Merse Medical Practice provides a wide range of healthcare services, including general check-ups, vaccinations, chronic disease management, and mental health support. Our team is committed to delivering personalized care in a friendly and supportive environment.
Cervical Smears
Appointments for smear tests can be booked with our female doctors and our practice nurse. Please note that routine smears are no longer required for patients under the age of 25, unless there have been previous abnormal results.
Contraception Services (Including contraceptive implant)
Contraceptive advice is available by making a normal appointment with any of the doctors or practice nurse Mary Gibson, our practice prescribing nurse can see patients for contraceptive pill reviews. Please contact the Sexual Health Clinic on 01896 663 700 for any other sexual health requirements, such as implants & inter uterine devices.
Maternity Services
Antenatal care, including any vaccinations required during pregnancy, is provided by the midwifery team at the Knoll Health Centre, Duns. Please contact the Health Board reception in Duns on 01361 883 373 or the Eyemouth Health Centre on 018907 52600.

We offer comprehensive clinics and regular reviews for any patients who require specialised monitoring for their medication. Please contact reception to make an appointment with Mary Gibson, our specialist nurse in this field.
First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP)
If you have any issues that relate to bone, muscle or joint – the in-house Physiotherapist will asses you, give expert advice and refer you on to specialist services if necessary. Please speak to one our receptionists for further information.
Non-NHS Services
Some services provided fall outside the scope of the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

Medicals for pre-employment and driving requirements (HGV) – We are currently not able offer these due to current demand for appointments.

Our reception staff will be happy to advise you about appointment availability and applicable charges. Please note that we do not conduct any sports related medicals.
